Training kicked off in February, where Body Leadership physiotherapists Paul Trevethan and Reese Kalleitner conducted sports screening for players to identify any potential issues for the season and provided strength programs to assist with injury prevention. With 19 teams competing in the BBI competition that started in April, our physios were kept on call providing treatments during school lunchtimes once a week and at Body Leadership headquarters when needed. The competition resulted in over half Churchie teams competing in the finals, a fantastic achievement and warm up for the GPS season.
The GPS season then started midway through term three where Body Leadership provided sports trainer coverage for all games. Throughout the season, Churchie basketball once again cemented itself as the benchmark for GPS basketball, with 11 premierships across a wide range of age groups, including 11A, B, C, D, 10D, 9A, B, C, D, 8A, B and 7D. A special mention must go to the Year 9 and 11 age groups, who combined for just one loss over the whole season.
Body Leadership has been very impressed by all players hard work and determination throughout the season. Their positive attitudes have made our involvement always fun and rewarding. We wish all the luck to the two teams heading off for the USA Tour in December, we're sure you'll show them what Aussies can do! We are looking forward to hearing all about the trip and continuing our involvement in Basketball next season.
After such a wonderful experience, Body Leadership will also be providing support for Churchie's Volleyball season which we are very excited about! To find out more about Body Leadership's sports support services please contact us on 07 3847 8040 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
