Booked your first physiotherapy appointment? Not sure what to expect? Body Leadership has developed some frequently asked questions to make sure you are fully prepared for your next appointment.
Q1. What should I expect from my initial consultation?
- Your first consultation will usually take 1 hour.
- Your physiotherapist will discuss your condition and do a thorough assessment looking at posture, range of movement as well as palpating tender areas (this can usually be done through your clothing). Your physiotherapist will diagnose your condition as well as identify the underlying cause of your problem.Your physiotherapist will then start treating which involves hands on techniques.
- After treatment you will be taught correct sleep positioning and be given a gentle home program addressing strength, length as well as self management techniques. Your physiotherapist will outline a plan of action to suit your particular condition and needs.
Q2. What should I wear to my appointment?
Depending on your particular condition it is commonly possible to treat without the need to remove any clothing. It is ideal that you wear comfortable loose fitting clothing such as shorts and t-shirts etc. If in your case it is necessary to remove outer garments your physiotherapist will ensure you remain warm, comfortable and fully draped at all times.
Q3. How long will my appointment take?
At Body Leadership Australia we pride ourselves on giving the very best quality one on one, hands on treatment. Initial Consultations usually take 45 minutes to 1 hour and then follow up appointments usually take 30 minutes. If you need to leave early please let our friendly staff know so that we can make every attempt to look after you as quickly as possible.
Q4. How much will my appointment cost?
Body Leadership works on a tiered system where consultation prices are determined by the consultant you see. The most senior consultant being our Director and Principal Physiotherapist, Paul Trevethan and our team of physios include Joell, Morgan, David, and Ali. You can view our price list here. We also provide services for Workcover, DVA, insurance claims and Medicare rebates for eligible clients.
Q5. Can I claim through my health insurance?
Yes you can. Body Leadership has Hicaps facilities onsite so always bring your health insurance card. We will swipe it on the day of treatment and you will only have to pay the gap.
Q6. What do I need to bring for Workcover or DVA claims?
At Body Leadership we treat Workcover and DVA clients with no out of pocket expense. You will need a referral from your doctor along with a current claim number for Workcover claims and valid DVA cad for DVA patients.
