The count down to Youngcare's epic Simpson Desert trek has begun.  The 25 volunteers
are deep in to their final stages of preparation, under the expert guidance of Brian Freeman
and his team at Adventure 1000.  The group has been worked hard to prepare them for all
the desert has to offer. One of the group's most testing training sessions included a 30km
trek in full desert gear with 14 kilo packs from Currumbin to Burleigh and back. And that's
just a taste of what is to come.

Youngcare asked Principal Physiotherapist of Body Leadership, Paul Trevethan, to take
the group through some strategies to get their weary muscles through the 11 days
across the Simpson desert. Paul caught up with the trekkers on Tuesday 24 May to find
there were already a few aches and pains.

Paul discussed body concepts focussing specifically on what the group could expect on
the journey. Paul gave the group a number of practical skills using SSTM - Squeeze,
Stretch, Trigger, Move
as the basis. He demonstrated correct warm up strategies to
prevent neck and shoulder pain from walking throughout the day as well as prevention
strategies to help the group at night.

Body Leadership were very excited to be a small part of Youngcare's fantastic journey
which has raised over half a million dollars so far. Paul presented Youngcare CEO, Marina
Vit, with a donation of $500 to add to the tally. We wish the 25 brave Youngcare volunteers
luck on their gruelling 11 day journey with all of the desert to challenge them. They are
true body leaders and an inspiration to us all.
